These roasters are crucial for developing the deep, nuanced flavours that our coffee is known for. The result is a beautifully balanced cup of coffee that reflects our dedication to quality and authenticity.

We believe in responsible coffee sourcing that benefits both the environment and the communities involved. Our partnerships with farmers are built on fairness and transparency, ensuring they receive a fair price for their hard work.

Additionally, we prioritize sustainable practices throughout our supply chain to minimize our environmental impact, making our coffee not only delicious but also ethical.

history

Our Founder Vittorio Ferrari settled in South Wales from Italy over 90 years ago. His passion for making a true Italian espresso inspired him to travel the world from the volcanic rocks in South America to the mountains of East Africa. He sourced the finest coffee beans and brought them back to South Wales where he would carefully roast them to create the perfect espresso, which reminded him of home.

Word spread of Vittorio's blends and people from all over the country would come to taste his 'Piacentina Orignal Blend'. For years Ferrari's Coffee has been a local secret and only been available to buy by personal delivery.

In 2018 coffee lovers Yash and Rakhi came across this struggling local roastery with a vision to spread these blends all across the world. They focus on ensuring the traditions of roasting are matched with todays ethical and sustainable standards, building direct relations with farmers and ensuring they are paid a fair price for their coffee.

Today we are proud to follow in Vittorio Ferrari's footsteps, making every batch taste as good as the first. Our rich Italian heritage has inspired us to continue producing only the finest coffee on traditional drum roasters. We roast a range of speciality single origins, and traditional Italian blends including our signature Piacentina blend.

the roastery

All our coffee is roasted in our new purpose-built site based in Bridgend, South Wales which was opened in 2021. Our quality systems are regularly audited by SALSA which ensures all products are manufactured to safe and hygienic standards.

We roast on 3 Italian Trabbatoni drum roasters and have the capability of producing 4000kg of coffee per day. We believe that traditional drum roasters bring out the best flavours in the coffee beans by combining conduction and convection to heat the beans.

All our blends are post-blended, this allows us to ensure each bean is roasted to its optimum before being blended, some of our blends achieve their unique taste profiles by having up to six different origins blended together.

Our extensive staff training program develops and encourages the team to understand each process of the coffee and how to ensure each coffee is roasted and packed to its potential. All team members are SCA-qualified baristas. It is vital to us that our team are recognised for their hard work and we are proud to be a registered Real Living Wage employer.

sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of our business.

Our packaging is now made of mono-material, which makes it fully recyclable. This has been rolled out across our entire range.

We have actively implemented systems to reduce road miles, for example sourcing our packaging locally where possible. We have introduced an electronic operational management system which has helped us to become paperless. All our waste is now Zero waste to landfill, which means that all our roasting materials get repurposed into green resources.

During the coffee roasting process we produce tonnes of coffee husk/ chaff. This organic, nutrient rich by product is available to the local community who use it for their farms, garden and allotments.

coffee sourcing

We are proud to be a Fairtrade accredited company. Fairtrade is pivotal in ensuring farmers are paid a fair price for their coffee.

The Fairtrade program is the only extensive organisation that ensures each step in the supply chain is audited and approved.

We have made a commitment to work directly with farmers and their communities.

When we trade with farmers directly we have full control over the quality of the coffee and we can make sure that the farmers are paid the fair price for their crop. We are proud to directly source our robusta and speciality grade arabica from Brazil, Costa Rica, El Salvador & Uganda. We are aiming to directly source all of our coffee by 2025.
